((I also love what they say when they get hurt by objects. Like one time a small boulder hit my pawn and she shouted "...Troubling foe!!!" XD I swear sometimes I wonder if they made messed up on purpose. I know they didn't, but sometimes it makes you wonder XD My Pawn has a thing for healing every little scrape I get XD ))
one of the things that I hear a lot when it comes to dragons dogma is that the pawns are the most annoying thing in the world, in my opinion they're about as annoying as any other npc sidekick in any other game I've played, at least in this one you can choose their appearance and some of their personality.
They can be annoying at times, but it's something you get used to rather quickly. They're still more of a help than a hindrance. You can lower the rate at which your own pawn speaks, but unfortunately, they will never be completely mute-- and hiring other people's pawns won't be affected by the speech restrictions you set to your main pawn. If you set them to speak less and play it solo, you really notice how big of a change it is.
Their AI is exceptional, and honestly, I still think Navi rates at a much higher annoyance level when it comes to needless, sidekick banter.
Lol, I got to the point I kept sitting my Pawn down and having a discussion where he needs to shut the fuck up. Then of course he goes exploring very far with someone on another server and he didn't warn me about a fricking TROLL! There is no middle ground!
I can survive fine without pawns. My Arisen is 98. I haven't been summoning other pawns since I was 40, and I can survive very well on my own without my main pawn so. How long would I survive without them? Well. As long as I have something sharp and pointy, Im good.
So far the hardest choice I had in DD is whether or not to play the game on mute or suffer through the obvious pawns telling me stuff that's common knowledge. Unless it's on a boss-like and their weaknesses I don't really wanna hear it.
I sit my pawn down and tell her to stfu. I don't usually hire other pawns because most people don't seem to do that same thing. Doesn't stop her completely but, she is the quietest if I do decide to hire anyone else.
Everytime I pass a certain point in the game I say the lines word for word for them ... "The duke could stand to commission some new roads" "Watch out for a goblin ambush ahead Master!" (after we ALREADY ran into the "ambush") "Harpies!" "Careful afore they snatch you and fly!" "I've learned of foes"
ETC ETC ETC
asdf when do they stop talking Dx I know you can make your pawn quiet down but as for the ones you higher they just keep blabbering and blabbering
A good thing though is that the less pawns on your team the more exp you get for enemies!
The dragon boss took like five minutes to kill or less because I had hired a level 150 pawn and they just DESTROYED that dragon, man. I was so upset I was like //tear// that was supposed to be a long and grueling battle 8D Oh well now to kill the Ur dragon
I think my favourite is walking around being blind and having all the pawns yell in unision, DONT LET THAT SHIT BLIND YOU. But hey. Here I am. Hitting this rock with an arrow because I cant see dick. THANKS GUYS.
Oh the joys of pawns! I went through the whole game wondering the exact same thing. Probably my favorite pawn moment is when I'm walking into town square, and all three of my pawns jump up straight into the fountain to catch some fish. I'll go up to buy something random and hear a pawn yell out, "Make sure you aren't soaked in water!" and I start looking around at my dry surroundings in complete confusion, lol. They just have a knack for getting themselves into trouble, I suppose. I absolutely love this, by the way! And I can't wait to see the finished version!
