Scribble, scribble, scribble...

Adam Hawke and Fenris. Angle practice. I should probably slow down and do these properly...

nonsense! the quick sketchy line captures the energy and motion of the artist, and really makes the picture come alive. better than the really slow, plodding, lifeless lines anyway. or so my teachers woulda said in art school. but in this case, it's true. the drawings have character.

plus, they're very well done. are you using any underlying sketch at all? i think i'm jealous..! : )

Underlying sketch? Like the stick figures or boxes and shapes?

Whenever I try using those I never follow them. I did a really really short video once when someone asked me to show my art process. Honestly I throw lines down and erase them until they work lol. Trial and error constantly. I've never been to an art school or trained though it would probably make my life so much easier if I just learned to use the damn stick figures.

And thank you so much for the compliment, I'm very happy that my art has this impression on you!! <3

This is the horrible video I made if you're interested. Its about 40 seconds of bad lines haha.

yeah, that. see, if i tried to just put lines in the right place on a blank paper/canvas, i'd be SO lost! but a lot of cartoonists and animators work like that, so don't feel you're not doing stuff 'right.'

you have a good eye for proportion and where stuff goes, so you don't really seem to need guidelines. so, yeah, still jealous here. ; )

Ahh! Thank you :)

I have been drawing on everything my entire life so maybe it's because I started with walls instead of paper like normal art students haha.

Frankly, I don't have the time or money to enroll in any art institution, it would be nice to learn how to animate though, and actually bring these characters to life.

I have! I made a lion king flip book as a kid. It was total quality lol.

I have been thinking about looking into the creation of gifs. I thought the same thing would apply for the creation of simple walking gestures, blinking, etc.

well then, there you go!

i only just found out that some latter versions of photoshop (the CS line) has some sort of animated gif making doohickey. i would presume you could just draw the animation on different layers, and then tell it to create the gif. oh, i found a tutorial on google once upon a time. if you don't use photoshop, then you can check whatever you use. oh, and someone else said they like 'flip boom doodle,' which is an app for ipad, some mac and windows 7 and up. that's supposed to be really easy and intuitive to use to animate with.

good luck. :) i totally wanted to do animation when i was a kid. but when i got older, i never had the patience for the time and effort it took.
